A Break

A Break

...from weighing of the truth.

I don't need a break
from writing poems.
It's still the best way for me
to hear my soul speaking.

Rather I need a break
from thinking and hoping
what I know to be true
isn't really true.

I'm just one thread,
but there are billions
woven into a human tapestry
that's unraveling so quickly
the truth of our existence
is being laid bare
for everyone to see.

That I cannot fly
without birds,
that I cannot swim
without fish,
that I cannot breath
without trees
is obvious to my soul.

God's mercy and grace give me hope
- for myself, and for our world.
~ Billy Graham
