Grace

Grace

...the real human story.

It's so easy for us
to become lean and mean,
even though each and every day
we grow fatter with blessings.

So how can it be
the abundance of this world
and the bottomless reservoir of love
we feel within our hearts,
seems so hopelessly fragile
that we fear losing it all?

Someone once told a story
about famine, disease, death,
and we believed him when he said
it was all our fault.

Too few of us woke the next day
realizing the story does not end,
and that the sun always returns
delivering us to new opportunities
for love and peace.

There is nothing in the world more shameful
than establishing one's self on lies and fables.
~ Johnann Wolfgang von Goethe

One writes fables in periods of oppression.
~ Italo Calvino
