Joy of Being
Joy of Being
May you never forget it.
When I was a child
I remember adults
taking great pleasure
in giving me opportunities
to play and to create
without any set goals,
except that I may dissipate
some of my youthful energy
and perhaps also discover
the inherent joy of being
they once knew intimately,
and never want to forget.
Memory and poetry go together, absolutely.
It is a matter of preserving and of remembering things.
