Beyond Cost

Beyond Cost

...and any other economic terms.

Because of so called science
we know it's costly to change
our habitual ways of thinking.

The cost comes
from the energy and time
it takes us to make that change.
And of course time is money,
the cruelest arbiter of all things.

But who are we
if not change agents
paying for our tiny lives
with blood, sweat, and tears,
and whatever imagination
we can avoid suppressing?

Cost is an economic term.
When we close our eyes
for the very last time,
what we've paid for our life
will be more than enough
to purchase a first class ticket
into the universe of sublime love.

Both economics and politics are false sciences.
~ Leon Russell
