Presbyopia

Presbyopia

With age comes perspective...

Can someone tell me
does midlife feel
like a fraying at the edges,
a blurring of the near?

At the Iowa State Fair
a reporter asks Joe Biden,
"How many genders are there?"
"At least three," Joe replies.

Once there were two
and now there is no gender.
Or maybe it is three,
a trinity, like Joe says.

Something in me finds hope
in this strange revelation.
Could it be we are becoming
comfortable with ambiguity?

A smile is the chosen vehicle of all ambiguities.
~ Herman Melville

Religious belief has made me comfortable with ambiguity.
~ Richard Rohr
