She
She
An ode to the feminine and beyond...
She is surrounded by fluidity.
Some might mistake it for naivete,
but I say it is an easy acceptance,
a willingness to live with uncertainty.
I on the other hand hold suspect
anyone who does not prefer
a certain flavor of ice cream
or a particular Christmas song.
She somehow manages to live
in those nebulous spaces between
the stone columns on the courthouse
and the bodies on a crowded dance floor.
Just getting to know her
has shifted the center of my being
to where I can no longer focus
my believing on a single truth.
I spent a lot of years trying to outrun or outsmart vulnerability by making things certain and definite, black and white, good and bad. My inability to lean into the discomfort of vulnerability limited the fullness of those important experiences that are wrought with uncertainty: Love, belonging, trust, joy, and creativity to name a few.
