Rock

Rock

...molten and moving.

What I've found
too difficult to master
is the unmoved moving
devised and demanded
by a fundamentalist mindset.

The common thinking holds,
at the heart of all being
is a block of solid granite,
fixed and resolute,
like the will of God.

But the God we meet
in the streets and alleyways
of our embodied lives
hides around corners carrying
all sorts of intriguing gifts.

No one who's lived life
through the portals at their senses
knows rock as anything other
than the tumbling evidence
of our steady yielding
to change.

I think it's inevitable to evolve
if we allow ourselves.
