An Existential Question

An Existential Question

You tell me.

Where were you
when you realized
you will never arrive
at the vision of happiness
you've held onto since childhood,
and that no matter
how difficult or how easy
this life has come to you,
the most it will ever be
is as this notebook is for me,
a place where your flesh discovers
the soaring heights of spirit
as well as the dark depths of soul,
uniting them into your essential being
so that you may finally rest
in the work that is yours to do,
that very gift of who you are?

I have an existential map.
It has 'You are here' written all over it.
