Lake Erie

Lake Erie

Another body of water.

If I can find a space
of stillness and solitude,
then I begin to notice
the incessant chatter,
like a noisy restaurant
within my mind.

I want all the noise
to suddenly fall silent
so that I may sleep
in the pure vacuum
of my being.

My infinite suggestibility
both frightens and disturbs me.
Still I cannot turn off my inputs
without also slowing the gushing
love and light manifest through
the relationships I form.

Being is a state of flow,
like the freight train I see
rambling along the lake shore,
snaking its way along
the places we all belong.

In space, you don't get that much noise.
Noise doesn't propagate in a vacuum.
