Awe

The human gift.

What awareness
must be awakened
within each human being
to see the sun rise
and to whisper to oneself
beautiful?

Who first left behind
awareness of one's own life,
and the staggering perception
of something so much greater?

Recognizing inherent beauty
is the manifest gift of humanity.
Yet any satisfaction derived from
pinpointing and defining this awe
only creates a vast distance
between truly knowing
and the transcendent reality.
