Everyone
Everyone
...must trust their struggles.
I remind myself to be kind
and that everyone walks
with an unseen limp,
something big or small,
something physical
or psycho-spiritual,
slowing them down
on their difficult journey
to become exactly who
they are meant to be.
I say meant to be,
but maybe I could say
who they already are,
and remind them of how
they came into the world,
whole and unbroken,
not yet limping,
but also unaware the gifts
they bear along with them
are so longingly desired.
The old and honorable idea of 'vocation'
is simply that we each are called, by God,
or by our gifts, or by our preference,
to a kind of good work
for which we are particularly fitted.
