Memories

Memories

Getting past the past...

What's now gone forever,
you thought was safely
stored inside a box, put
where you'd remember.

But gone too is all care,
once beyond any compare,
for the things in that box
you so longed to share.

Of course only God knows
the way each soul grows
and everything in that box
were only needless props.

Memories are like mulligatawny soup in a cheap restaurant.
It is best not to stir them.
~ P. G. Wodehouse
