It's Not Time

It's Not Time

...yet.

It's cold,
too damn cold.
Only a few days ago
I was burnin' up
in the late season sun.

Warm in my office,
I feel open to suggestion
as I try finding cracks
in the absolute certainty
wanting to claim me,
both body and soul,
for the machine world.

So I ask the maple trees
right outside my window,
Why do you hold tightly
onto your leaves?

The wind swells,
gathering in their branches.
Then I hear them reply,
Soon, but now's not time
to let them all go.

It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die,
than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.
~ Julius Caesar
