No Signal

No Signal

...no stirring songs

The radio I use
to listen to my soul-songs
isn't working.

It must be because the silence
isn't broadcasting this morning.
Thus I won't be able to tune
the receiver I keep in my heart
to a signal my head can amplify.

All I feel is the cold pushing
inward through these walls,
while I listen to the hum
of the space heater pushing back.

It's one of those mornings,
nondescript and not urgent,
just waiting with ambivalence
for me to shake things up.

 Wise men speak because they have something to say;
Fools because they have to say something.
~ Plato
