Born Again

Born Again

A prayer to forget myself.

Tell the wind
I'm done resisting.
Tell the rain
and the steep path too.

At last I'm grateful to surrender,
allowing the current to push me
anywhere I wouldn't voluntarily go.

I've been piloting my life for years,
but now find this task a burden.
Because I succeeded in becoming me,
it's time to grow into something more.

Warrior, Lover, Magician,
Kings and Queens -
these roles aren't meant
to last our lifetime.

Thus I'm slowly removing
this heavy mantle I've been wearing.

Today I call myself poet,
which speaks not of my certainty,
but of my spirit kinship
with the wind and rolling hills.

Throw your dreams into space like a kite,
and you do not know what it will bring back,
a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.
~ Anaïs Nin
