Tick of the Clock

Tick of the Clock

Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock

Some can hear
the ticking of the clock.
I can feel it -
tick, tock,
tick, tock.

My heart beats
to the rhythm of that clock,
twisting and turning
inside my head.

Tick,
I grow weary
of my unending lust.

Tock,
I am jaded
by my dead living.

Then from the dark
comes a voice offering
to silence that clock.

It tolls a chime of belonging
and whispers to me:

Hear what you hear,
and see what you see.
Accept yourself, then become
who you're meant to be.

 The hours of folly are measured by the clock;
but of wisdom, no clock can measure.
