Maybe

Maybe

...and probably

Maybe the fog is hiding something
the dawn doesn't want us to see.

Maybe the bees don't care
for the smell of dandelions.

Maybe the roads joke to each other
about seeming to lead nowhere.

Maybe the moon laughs hysterically
when the sea complains of tired feet.

Maybe a mirror reflects only
what we are expecting to see.

And maybe God is the only one
who can hold all perspectives.

 Maybe Christmas, the Grinch thought,
doesn't come from a store.
~ Dr. Seuss
