A Day Off

Have you ever wondered...

What might happen
if I took a day off,
did nothing,
went nowhere,
and spoke to no one?

Would I lose my job?
Would I starve?
Would my family suffer?
Would I begin to remember
what I've tried to forget?
Would I become empty
and lose myself?
Would you stop loving me
if I had nothing to offer you?
Would I slowly disappear
along with all meaning
that comes from my doing?
Would the world end?

So why is it
my soul keeps asking me
to take a day off?
