Open

Open

A challenging proposition.

Open,
I remain open
because I don't know,
and because
not every friend's a friend,
not every foe a foe.

Oh how I wish I could recall
my every step along the way,
and the name of the man or woman
who helped to make my day.

But all I know for certain
is within darkness shines a light,
bringing meaning to my suffering,
bringing love to each dark night.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty,
but the sight of the stars makes me dream.
