Back to Forever

Back to Forever

A lifetime journey.

I would have forever
remained in stillness
somewhere between here
and a nebulous there,
no name to whisper
and no breath to bear.

I was the morning mist
clinging to the seaside rocks.
I drifted ephemerally
at water's edge,
then disappeared quickly
as the sun began to rise.

Something lured me out
from behind the safe shadows
with tantalizing promises
of this great thing called living.

Here I see love embodied.
Here I feel the blood moving.
Here I celebrate the gift
of my life incarnate.

Yet when I am still
I can almost remember
the path back to forever.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.
