Satisfaction

Satisfaction

Enough is enough.

Moment to moment
my desires will shift.
Right now I only want relief
from this dogged sinus infection.
Next week I may ask for warm weather
and to be finished with the winter.

Yet because I am given so much
I try not to ask for too much.
On my very best days I seek
no more than the divine grace
to keep my heart open
and to see the hearts of others.

If possible,
I'd also like to grow old,
walking from place to place,
allowing the people I meet
to flow into and through me,
as I gently give myself over
to the essential elements
of my creation.

And above all things,
never think that you're not good enough yourself.
A man should never think that.
My belief is that in life people will take you
at your own reckoning.
