Your Heartbeat
...is like a blaze of light.
Has anyone ever asked you
what makes your heart beat?
Have you ever stopped to listen
to the rhythms your body makes
as you move through life?
Maybe it's love.
Maybe it's another potent emotion
feeding the ticktock beating
at the center of your being.
More likely it's magic,
or something we can only know
as magic or as God,
or as a blaze of light
bursting through a crack
in our humanity.
No matter the mystery,
my heart keeps beating,
my heart keeps beating,
my heart keeps beating.
And I never think to ask why,
just as I never want it to stop.
The goal of life is to make your heartbeat
match the beat of the universe,
to match your nature with Nature.
