Divine Riddles

Divine Riddles

...fill the spaces in-between.

I sit here well-fed,
with no greater purpose
than to become present,
available to send and receive
transmissions of love.

To say I am restless
is like calling the ocean deep
while drifting in a tiny boat
safely on the surface.

Over and over
I ask myself
what to do.

Over and over
the silence urges me
to stay connected.

I never grow tired
of the metaphors and riddles
through which the divine speaks.

Instead,
I grow drunk on them,
wrestle with them,
fall off of them,
sleep and wake up
right next to them,
grow gentle and calm
as I collect them.

Be silent as a compass, the King
has erased your name from the book of speech.
~ Rumi
