When All This is Over
When All This is Over
...we really can't go back.
When all this is over,
we can get back to doing
what it was we were doing.
When all this is over,
we can get back to being
who we thought we were.
When all this is over,
we can keep on listening
to the same divisive voices.
When all this is over,
we can try to forget
our love and empathy.
When all this is over,
we can again ignore
death is always nearby.
Or,
when all this is over,
we can sigh a deep breath,
say a prayer for the departed,
and let go of our stubbornness
as we acknowledge our fear
this will never be over.
God knows when the end of time will come,
not some fanatic...
