Testify!

Testify!

I need your witness.

All reason is in revolt!

My soul bribes the bailiff
who comes to release me.

At my interrogation
I am asked why it is
I demand reason.

Timidly I respond,

Is it reasonable
to accept poverty,
to accept torture
to let people die,
to destroy this planet,
to go on with living
as we've lived for too long?

Who can argue
with reason‽

Reason grounded in reality
never fails to destabilize us.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God
who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect
has intended us to forgo their use.
~ Galileo Galilei

Reason obeys itself;
and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it.
~ Thomas Paine

What a piece of work is a man!
How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty!
In form and moving how express and admirable!
In action how like an angel,
in apprehension how like a god!
~ William Shakespeare
(Hamlet - Act 2, Scene 2)
