Save Me

Save Me

(Something always does.)

It seems like something
always comes to the rescue.

The second grade saved me
from having to repeat the first.
Songs on the radio saved me
from the dark of adolescence.
Spring training often saved me
from a seemingly eternal winter.

Even as I now grow older,
a savior always comes along,
whether that be new scenery,
marriage, separation, divorce,
loss of all certainty and reason,
or a new love come to reclaim
my wounded soul.

I wonder if towards the end,
there will be much left
out there, still able
to save me.

I know for sure that loves saves me
and that it is here to save us all.
