Your Anger

Your Anger

...needs release.

I am all heart,
the one setting the fire
between your temples,
making you sweat,
making you clench
fist and jaw.

Why do you struggle
to contain me?

You see me in the mirror
and know that I am true,
that I am righteous
and here for good reason.

I might agree with your argument
the head can say it more calmly.

But I must refuse to be
contained here forever
by your empty promises
to finally set me free,
or by you withdrawing
into the silent prison
of an imaginary world.

I need you,
and you need me,
red hot and raging.

I will light the way
through the dark night
to the peaceful resting place
you so deeply desire.

A man who has not passed
through the inferno of his passions
has never overcome them.
~ Carl Jung

Get mad, then get over it.
