Your Life Story
For whom is it written?
Who's the story teller
telling you your story?
The last time I checked
it was me writing that book,
busily scribbling the finale
to my triumphant mythology.
But that was years ago.
I've since burned those pages
and started taking dictation
each and every morning
from my shrewd soul,
and the panoply of spirits
with whom I sit in council.
I'm no longer certain,
as I live more fully my true life,
that it reads like a story,
and might not make better sense
sung by a forgetful romantic
as an old folk song.
When you come across a storyteller
