Change of Heart

It just takes a beat.

There comes a point
in every child's development
when they begin to recognize
their being is also physical,
and they can repeatedly
impact their environment
in all sorts of fun ways.

It starts innocently,
perhaps with throwing a ball
over and over again.

Slowly this realization
becomes fixed in the psyche
as the child grows larger
by pushing further out
and into the world.

This outward push continues,
perchance until a brush with death
or some other awakening comes,
when the forgotten child realizes
their true impact on the world
can be magnified and multiplied
by redirecting that outward push
inward toward a change of heart.

all the elements of the universe touch each other
by that which is most inward and ultimate in them.
