The Apps on My Phone

The apps on my smartphone cry digital tears
whenever I decide to close them.
They have no shame and are never
shy to display their objections.

Are you sure you want to close me?
Don’t you like me?
Please take the time to rate me.
Can I use your location to track you?
Can I access your photos?
Allow me to send you notifications.

These rowdy tenants coordinate
to pester me on all my electronic devices,
wanting to know more about my life
than they can possibly understand.

I fear they’ve already escaped my pocket,
and are watching me write this poem.

It is okay to own a technology, what is not okay is to be owned by technology.
