The Flowing

Walking up to the urinal,
the Flowing comes to mind
and I bring it into body
so that I may relax my muscles
and let go the excess liquid.

I know you know
the Flowing I’m actually talking about.
It’s been here all along
waiting for your next exhale,
dancing on each breath,
falling into march
with the drumbeat of your heart,
before joining the jet stream
to be carried around the world.

The Flowing may be slowed
but nothing can stop it.
I summon the Flowing with this prayer:
Please let everything be alright.
To which the Flowing responds:
It will.

You could not step twice into the same rivers; for other waters are ever flowing on to you.
