The Midlife Cricket

All this time,
there's been a cricket
hiding in my bedroom.

My god the chirping!

There's no way I can ignore it
when it's chirping my name.

I cry,
Cricket go!

I cry,
Cricket stay!

I cry,
Cricket please tell me
what you're trying to say?

_________________________

It's a difficult passage indeed.

The day and night come as usual,
but my routine has changed.
I'm slowly starting to realize
how I took my life for granted,
as I now struggle to accept counsel
from voices I’d rather not hear.

...either befriend all your thoughts
...or toss the rascals out.
