One of Those Days

One of Those Days

...made better by experience.

Thus begins one of those days
when I can wring no meaning
out of the saturated sponge
within my bloated head.

Thoughts congest and worry me
while even clear skies overhead
cannot coax my heavy spirit
into liberating flight.

I tell myself this is good,
that I've lived this day before.
And almost instantly I feel lighter,
as though my soul is set free.

What a liberation to realize
that the 'voice in my head'
is not who I am.
'Who am I, then?'
The one who sees that.
~ Eckhart Tolle
