Full and Empty

Full and Empty

...strike a balance.

It's morning.
My mind is full
and my stomach empty.

Sadly,
one cannot feed the other.
Neither wants the same food.

My mind finds peace in emptiness,
and my stomach in fullness.

I look forward to that day,
when upon waking,
my mind will be empty
and my stomach full.

In the Lord's Prayer,
the first petition is for daily bread.
No one can worship God or love his neighbor
on an empty stomach.
~ Woodrow Wilson
