Wham!

Making a point of emphasis.

My wife was first to mention
the way I slap the table
during passionate conversation
or a heated debate.

She doesn't seem to care
for my excited form of emphasis,
my exclamation points writ audibly
with open hand or closed fist.

I concede her points.
It may seem rude
and even elevate tensions
during a volatile moment.

Inwardly I smile.
Even though contentious,
I am glad my soul and spirit
remain connected to my body.
