Overcome

Overcome

...by my life.

Everything
and all at once,
this is how my life
rushes towards me:
hot in the summer,
cold in the winter,
wet in the rain,
frightening at night.

If sometimes
I'm not overcome
and overwhelmed
by living my life,
something is wrong.

And if I'm not awed
each time I pause
to admire the distance,
you, me, and everyone
has traveled to be right here,
it's probably time for me
to double my pace.

A man who has not passed
through the inferno of his passions
has never overcome them.
~ Carl Jung
