Some Reason

Some Reason

There's gotta be one.

There must be some reason
for all things I know,
and even better reasons
for what I don't.

Some days I feel punch drunk,
all the contents of my mind spilled
out on the table of conversation,
but not food enough to feed anyone.

So here I am,
twisting and turning,
unable to find comfort
while sitting in my easy chair,
as it tosses and turns like a tiny boat
adrift in a sea of uncertainty.

Above the water
I see the clouds and the sky.

Under the water
my thoughts go down deep
to what's nibbling at my toes.

There must be some reason
I woke today in cloud-cuckoo-land.

There must also be some reason
I can never say what I mean perfectly.

And there must be some reason
we're all here in this place,
trying to figure it out together.

 Reason has always existed,
but not always in a reasonable form.
~ Karl Marx
