Visit Me

Visit Me

I'm at home.

One day away from home
is one too many,
especially when no sense of home
exists in mind or heart.

When I was young
I scorned home bodies
and denied my own desires
to build a home.

Then I lived
as we all seem to live,
in a world of movement
but no ground,
in a world of intoxication
but no wine.

Part of discovering home
has been locating my feet,
planting them in the Earth,
then opening my eyes wide
and allowing the world
to come visit me.

Oh, these vast, calm, measureless mountain days,
days in whose light everything seems equally divine,
opening a thousand windows to show us God.
