Tension of Opposites

Tension of Opposites

...an invitation from the divine.

From my privileged pedestal
proceeds this pronouncement:
All or nothing.

Atop a tall building
everything below
seems quite small,
and yet the sky
is still too big
to hold in my arms.

A drowning man
needs a life vest,
not a casket.

A thirsty woman
needs water,
not reassurances.

How is it I can muster
an infinite patience
for the digital world,
but cannot tolerate
our shared humanity
in an analog one?

Our mind is capable of passing beyond
the dividing line we have drawn for it.
Beyond the pairs of opposites of which the world consists,
other, new insights begin.
