It's Alright

It's Alright

See for yourself.

Everything is alright.
Everything will be alright.
And there is nothing I can say,
as well as nothing I can do,
to make this more or less true.

In the past it felt
like an incredible burden
to be a part of God's creation
while bearing humble witness
to the mysterious workings
of a seemingly random world
complicated by my free will.

Now I can no longer tell
if more and more of this life
is being wrested from my control,
or if I'm letting it go voluntarily,
shaking my head and laughing
because when I open my fists
there's nothing in them at all.

I know the sag of the unfinished poem.
And I know the release of the poem that is finished.
