Forever

Forever

...as seen through the prism of nostalgia.

Where did it go,
that rock you found,
the endless summer,
grandma's pumpkin pie,
high school and college,
radio and records,
black and white images,
the Tooth Fairy,
Saturday cartoons,
staticky screens,
Wite-Out,
ashtrays,
sidewalks,
loitering Vietnam Vets,
pop bottles,
yo-yos,
Now and Laters,
closed signs,
nothing to do
but sit and watch
the day go by?

What happened
to not worrying at all,
convinced life
would go on like this
forever?

Nostalgia is a file that removes the rough edges
from the good old days.
