Within Himself

Within Himself

...there is great love.

Let me begin with a prayer
for someone or something
to come remind me
nothing is wasted.

I cannot calculate
the vast amounts of time
I silently stewed,
thinking 'bout everything
I could be doing,
or really should be doing.

But now more often
I look all around,
at this crazy-busy world,
and lament the years
I spent lost in traffic,
driving along endless roads,
seeking things I couldn't see
because they are so near.

Hear me!

Hear the prayer
of a foolish man
who got lost seeking
love in externalities,
but now believes it's a waste
to do anything other
than to reveal the love
within himself.

 God's finger touched him,
and he slept.
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson
