Ice Age Truth

Ice Age Truth

You knew it all along.

Try, try again,
is the age-old adage
now ringing in your ears.

What you're hearing
is the sound of the empty road,
wheels turning in your mind,
but your heart is hovering
afraid the asphalt will deliver
an existential truth.

Down and in,
moving closer together,
that's what the day demands.

You've been chasing the horizon
since the ice last receded.
All the while the truth
has been gaining from behind.

When it bites you on your ass
you'll probably laugh saying,
I knew it all along.

Three things cannot be long hidden:
the sun, the moon, and the truth.
~ Buddha
