Here and Everywhere

Here and Everywhere

Let us go there for peace.

One day before
tomorrow.

One day past
yesterday.

There in-between
rests today.

Right here is where
I become angry
when you tell me
there is no hot or cold.

I assure you,
I am hot.

Who is behind this voice
trying to calm me down?

It seems as though you want
the whole world to remain asleep.

Yes there may be peace
right here in the present.
But there is also peace
up ahead and far behind,
within the icy outer reaches,
and the fiery furnaces below.

Isn't it the job of prophets
to repeatedly remind us
peace is everywhere?

We can never obtain peace in the outer world
until we make peace with ourselves.
~ Dalai Lama
