Firmly Grounded
Firmly Grounded
...in body and being.
I'm sitting downtown
twenty stories in the air,
so close to the edge,
next to a large window
but with curtain drawn,
in an atrium-style building.
Though I can't see it,
only inches away stands
a two hundred foot drop.
So here I am
on a real precipice,
yet completely at ease.
As someone who loves
being grounded on the Earth,
this does make me wonder
about those many times
I've been close to the brink,
but had absolutely no clue,
as I sat firmly grounded
in body and being.
I always liked characters
that were more grounded in reality.
